Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images

Another fast start and a high-level performance from Sergei Bobrovksy propelled the Florida Panthers to a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins at Amerant Bank Arena.

Mackie Samoskevich flipped on the red light for the third-straight game to open the scoring at the 4:20 mark. A.J. Greer pressured Henri Jokiharju into turning the puck over to Samoskevich, who worked his way into a shooting angle after the interception and snapped a wrister by Jeremy Swayman from the top of the left circle.

Greer would earn an assist on Florida’s second goal at 7:39 when his shot from long range was blocked by Fraser Minten and came to Sam Bennett, who put the loose puck home for the eventual game-winner.

Minten got the Bruins only goal with 27 seconds left in the frame when he collected a rebound and threw it into net from down low with Sergei Bobrovsky out of position. The assists went to Marat Khusnutdinov and David Pastrnak.

Bobrovsky made five saves in the second period and then put up a wall in the third, as unshackled Boston peppered him with 15 shots in an all-out onslaught to get the game to overtime.

Although they were holding on for dear life during the final frame, that was a pretty impressive win by the injury-riddled Cats, who sported a defense corps consisting of four AHLers, to complete the season-series sweep against the (likely) playoff-bound Bruins. The Panthers will kick off their final road trip of the season with two games against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena this weekend.

The Five Hole

In addition to notching his fifth game-winning goal of the campaign, First Star Sam Bennett finished the tilt with a game-high seven shots. Bennett is two goals away from matching his career-high of 28, which was set in the 2021-22 season.

Sergei Bobrovsky made a total of 28 saves, including 10 of the high-danger variety, to pick up his 27th win of the season. Bobrovsky’s goals against average (2.96) dropped below three for the first time in quite a while.

Gustav Forsling logged a team-high 27:13 of ice time, went plus-one and was credited with one shot on goal and two blocks.

A.J. Greer was the only skater to post a plus-two and was one of four Panthers to dish out three hits. Mackie Samoskevich, Luke Kunin and Donovan Sebrango were the others.

Call-ups Tobias Björnfot and Mikulas Hovorka each blocked a shot. Björnfot played 16:39 while Hovorka received 11:08 of ice time in his second NHL game.

Stat Card

Apr 2, 2026; Sunrise, Florida, USA; Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky (72) makes a save against Boston Bruins…

[5102
62,57,5141,5,4,63
0":"post-538368","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-florida-panthers","8":"tag-florida","9":"tag-florida-panthers","10":"tag-floridapanthers","11":"tag-hockey","12":"tag-nhl","13":"tag-panthers
["GET
