The Detroit Red Wings<\/a> are already looking better in April than they did through much of March.<\/p>\n

The Red Wings beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2<\/a> on Thursday, April 2, at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. The win brings the Wings up to 88 points and even with the Ottawa Senators (who currently have the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference) and Columbus Blue Jackets, who the Red Wings just hopped in the wild-card standings<\/a> on a tiebreaker.<\/p>\n

But the Red Wings still have some ground to make up to get into a playoff position with just seven games remaining on the regular-season schedule.<\/p>\n

Despite both teams even at 88 points with 75 games played, the Senators currently hold the tiebreaker over the Red Wings with more regulation wins (33-29). The Red Wings next play at the New York Rangers Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET, hoping to get to 90 points on the season for just the second time in the past 10 years (2024).<\/p>\n
