At this point, calling it a must-win game is redundant. Every game from now until the end of the season is a must-win until the standings say otherwise. <\/p>\n<p>A loss will make the Flyers\u2019 task even more difficult. After falling two points behind the Senators and Red Wings on Thursday, Philly is beginning to fall behind in the Wild Card hunt. A loss in Friday\u2019s game will set them even further back, and make it a difficult task to make up ground with 6 games afterward \u2013 three of which against legit contenders. <\/p>\n<p>Again, we all know it\u2019s a must-win game for the Flyers. Friday\u2019s game will be helpful for more than one reason. Yeah, getting the points is the task at hand. But a win against the New York Islanders will help clarify their path to the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>The Wild Card will remain a possibility throughout the season. However, the Red Wings and Senators will each have a game in hand on the Flyers after Friday. The Islanders currently hold the No. 3 seed in the Metropolitan Division. At 89 points, they have a one-point lead on the Blue Jackets and three on Philly. <\/p>\n<p>If the Flyers win in regulation on Friday, they\u2019ll be just a point back with a game in hand. They\u2019ll also be even with the Blue Jackets, who have a treacherous ending schedule. <\/p>\n<p>To me, a win on Friday makes the Flyers\u2019 path to the playoffs as clear as it\u2019s been. It\u2019s not the Wild Card.
