The Boston Bruins<\/a> (43-25-8) fell 2-1 to the Florida Panthers<\/a> (37-35-3) at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, FL, on Thursday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fraser Minten<\/a> (17) scored in the final minute of the first period, but the Panthers\u2019 jump in the first eight minutes proved too much to overcome. The Bruins snapped their four-game win streak and their seven-game road point streak. It is their first regulation road loss since March 5 in Nashville.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy Swayman<\/a> made 22 saves, including the final 19, but suffered his 16th loss of the season. He is now 3-4-1 against the Panthers in his career.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Panthers\u2019 quick start proved costly for the Bruins.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Henri Jokiharju<\/a> had a tough shift just four minutes into the game. After he won the puck, he turned it over and screened Jeremy Swayman. Newtown, CT native Mackie Samoskevich<\/a> opened the scoring, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead at the 4:20<\/a> mark.\u00a0<\/p>\n

AJ Greer<\/a> fired a shot that Fraser Minten blocked. The puck hit the 21-year-old and landed on Sam Bennett<\/a>\u2019s tape. He fired to make it 2-0 Panthers at 7:39<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the final minute of the first period, Marat Khusnutdinov<\/a> steered a close shot off Sergei Bobrovsky<\/a>\u2019s pad, which created a rebound that Fraser Minten buried into the open net<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bruins trailed 2-1 after the first period due to the Panthers\u2019 quick start. They outshot the Panthers 9-7.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Swayman made 12 saves in the second period, including back-to-back glove saves, to keep it a one-goal game. The Bruins did not help him out, though; they only added five shots in the middle frame.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Morgan Geekie<\/a>, who is searching for his first goal since March 5, had three shots in the third period but could not solve Sergei Bobrovsky. The Bruins poured 15 shots onto the Panthers\u2019 goalie in the third, but he stopped them all.<\/p>\n

Two came on the power play, which went 0-for-2 on Thursday. The Bruins had a power play opportunity with 2:31 to play, called their timeout, but did not capitalize.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bruins did not get too much help around the league, either. They still sit comfortably in the first wild card spot, but wins by Ottawa<\/a> and Detroit<\/a> have them within six points, and the Canadiens<\/a>, with a win, moved four points ahead.<\/p>\n

The road trip continues on Saturday with a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning (47-22-6), then they will fly to Philadelphia for a game on Sunday against the Flyers<\/a> (37-26-12).\u00a0<\/p>\n
