Montreal Canadiens<\/p>\n
Reuniting Cole Caufield with Nick Suzuki and Juraj Slafkovsky on the Canadiens top line has made a word of difference for Montreal down the stretch of the regular season. Head coach Martin St. Louis made the move on March 6, and in the 15 games since the trio has combined for 30 goals and 68 points. Caufield\u2019s scored 28 goals in his last 27 showings and is now one behind Nathan MacKinnon for the league lead in scoring. Elsewhere, rookie Ivan Demidov is on a four-game point streak and leads all rookies with 59 points on the season.<\/p>\n
Montreal\u2019s got quite a decision to make in net too come the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jakub Dobes is the likely starter come Game 1 as he has a .903 save percentage in 38 games this season. But 21-year-old Jacob Fowler is doing his best to throw his name in the ring, as he\u2019s put forth a .909 save percentage in five outings the last month. Both should get the crease this weekend.<\/p>\n
New Jersey Devils<\/p>\n
Jack Hughes is making the NHL look easy these days. Coming off 10 goals and 14 assists in the month of March, Hughes registered five goals in Thursday\u2019s 7-3 win versus Washington. Hughes has four multi-goal games in the last month and is now up to 24 goals and 68 points in 54 games this season. He\u2019s officially taken over Jesper Bratt as New Jersey\u2019s leading scorer, as Bratt has 66 points on the season. Bratt also had five points in Thursday\u2019s win.<\/p>\n
Despite the seven wins over 10 games, the Devils playoff hopes still sit at 0.1 per cent according to MoneyPuck. Shaky goaltending hasn\u2019t done the team any favours, but there\u2019s been a direct correlation the Devils\u2019 turnaround and Jake Allen receiving more starts. Allen has a .906 save percentage on the season in 34 games, compared to Jacob Markstrom\u2019s .883 mark in 42 games. Expect both to play this weekend.<\/p>\n
