It’s a great time to be a sports fan in Western New York.<\/p>\n

The Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres<\/a> are putting together a combination of feats not done in a quarter-century.<\/p>\n

It became official on Saturday: This is the first year that the Bills and Sabres both make the playoffs at the same time since 1999-2000.<\/p>\n

The Sabres didn’t even have to play on Saturday to clinch their spot. A New York Rangers<\/a> win over the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> was enough to do that.<\/p>\n

The Bills, of course, are on their best run since their four consecutive Super Bowl appearances.<\/p>\n

They don’t yet have anything to show for it, not even a Super Bowl made with Josh Allen. But there’s still time.<\/p>\n

The Sabres weren’t holding up their end of the bargain. For each of the past 14 NHL seasons, they had missed the playoffs.<\/p>\n

Buffalo’s last playoff hockey game was on April 26, 2011.<\/p>\n

Now, they’ll be able to update that figure.<\/p>\n

The Bills know the playoffs. And the Sabres will again, too.<\/p>\n
