The Canadiens are -155 on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5 goals in their final meeting of the season.

Devils vs. Canadiens NHL Betting Odds

After tonight, Montreal has three more home games this week to complete the regular-season slate at Bell Centre and then goes to New York (Islanders) and Philadelphia early next week to wrap things up ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Habs may not know their seed until after that Flyers finale on April 14.

Former Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe is coach of the Devils. He led the franchise to the playoffs last season in his first year, but the team will not make it this time. Surprising considering the amount of talent on the roster led by former No. 1 overall picks Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes. The goaltending has been a disappointment with No. 1 and former Calgary Flames backstop Jacob Markstrom having a down campaign.

This concludes the season series. New Jersey won the first, 4-3 in OT at home in early November, and then Montreal evened the series with a 4-3 shootout road win Saturday night. The Canadiens haven’t beaten the Devils in a season series since a three-game sweep in 2016-17.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils were rather fortunate to get a point on Saturday considering they trailed Montreal 3-0 midway through the second period. The team got goals from Dawson Mercer, Jack Hughes (shorthanded) and Timo Meier, with Meier tying it at 17:45 of the third before falling in the shootout. New Jersey hasn’t recorded a three-goal comeback win since April 13, 2013, in OT at Washington. It was former Montreal netminder Jake Allen in net Saturday, so it should be former Calgary goalie Jacob Markstrom tonight. He has lost back-to-back road outings and allowed four goals in each to slip to 12-10-0 with a 3.35 GAA away this season. The Devils carry a 10-game winning streak at Montreal into tonight, which dates to the 2017-18 campaign. That run is tied for the NHL’s longest active by any club against another along with Minnesota over Anaheim. New Jersey’s streak is the longest by any team against the Canadiens in NHL history.

Montreal Canadiens

Montreal won its league-best eighth straight game Saturday with Oliver Kapanen scoring the decisive goal in the fifth round of the shootout. Ivan Demidov had a power-play goal, his fifth such of the season. That’s the most by a Canadiens rookie in a campaign since Cole Caufield also had five in 2021-22. The last rookie with more power-play goals was Nick Suzuki with six in 2019-20. The win gave Montreal 100 points for the first time since the 2016-17 season, and it is now only two points behind Atlantic Division-leading Tampa Bay. With Jakub Dobes in net Saturday, it should be rookie Jacob Fowler tonight, and the 21-year-old is 3-3-0 on home ice with a 2.38 GAA. The Habs eye their third winning streak of nine or more games over the past 35 years. The other times were from Oct. 7-24, 2015 (9-0-0) and Oct. 19 to Nov. 6, 1991 (9-0-0).

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Devils vs. Canadiens?

Montreal returns to Bell Centre on Sunday off a very successful road trip and will play the second…

[5109
201,5,576,151,5185,5184,4
0":"post-542289","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-jersey-devils","8":"tag-devils","9":"tag-hockey","10":"tag-new-jersey","11":"tag-new-jersey-devils","12":"tag-newjersey","13":"tag-newjerseydevils","14":"tag-nhl
["GET
