(He was third in goals in 2023-24 but led in goals, too, in 2024-25.)

Well, following the NHL’s trade deadline last month, Kadri is back with the Colorado Avalanche. And so the question emerged: who was going to carve out a spot as the Flames’ new offensive leader?

So far the answer has been both “a bunch of guys” but also “Morgan Frost.”

Frost took over the goal-scoring lead, and entered a multi-way tie for the club’s points lead, in Saturday night’s 5-3 Flames win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Frost leads the team with 21 goals, ahead of Blake Coleman (19), Joel Farabee (18), Matt Coronato (17) and Mikael Backlund (16). It’s the first time in Frost’s NHL career that he’s hit the 20 goal plateau; he topped out at 19 goals with Philadelphia in 2022-23.

Since Kadri’s depature, Frost has gotten regular first line minutes alongside Matvei Gridin and usually either Coronato or Farabee. He’s taken advantage of the opportunity, scoring eight goals in 15 games, leading the Flames. Yeah, several Flames have scored goals in bunches lately, but Frost has been the best of the bunch.

Frost is tied for the team lead in points 41 with, tied with Kadri and Backlund. He’s ahead of Coronato (40) and Farabee (36), who round out the top five.

Since the trade deadline, Frost has 12 points in 15 games, leading the Flames.

When the Flames acquired Frost and Farabee from the Flyers last January, the big question for each of them was “What are they?” This season, from nearly the first puck drop, Farabee found a clear identity to his game and he’s become a really useful player for the hockey club. Frost’s “aha!” moment was more delayed, and seemingly came after Kadri’s return to Colorado.

Frost is a really smart, fast, dynamic offensive hockey player. He’s shown flashes of brilliance in his career, and the last month has arguably been the most sustained stretch of high-level play he’s had as a Flame. If he can make this the new normal, he could be a Flame, and an important one, for a long, long time.

The Flames continue their road trip on Tuesday night in Dallas.

For the past two seasons, the Calgary Flames’ offensive leaderboard has been regularly led by one man: Nazem…

[5124
895,26,5294,896,5,4
0":"post-542611","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-calgary-flames","8":"tag-calgary","9":"tag-calgary-flames","10":"tag-calgaryflames","11":"tag-flames","12":"tag-hockey","13":"tag-nhl
["GET
