CARDBIZ: OTTAWA (April 5, 2026) The Ottawa Senators\u2019 top defensive prospect Carter Yakemchuk, drafted 7th overall in 2024, made his NHL debut on March 24, 2026, after a wave of injuries sidelined Thomas Chabot, Dennis Gilbert, Nick Jensen, Jake Sanderson, and Lassi Thomson.<\/p>\n
In his debut against the Detroit Red Wings, Yakemchuk delivered a breakout performance \u2014 scoring a goal, adding an assist, finishing +2, and earning First Star honors in a 3\u20132 victory.<\/p>\n
Head Coach Travis Green praised his poise and offensive instincts, calling him \u201ca special player\u201d capable of creating plays from the blue line. Veteran center Lars Eller added that Yakemchuk \u201clooked like an NHL player\u2026 a good NHL player.\u201d<\/p>\n
