A woman attending an Edmonton Oilers game unexpectedly began giving birth during the NHL team’s Saturday evening contest against the Vegas Golden Knights.<\/p>\n

The news was revealed on the Sportsnet broadcast of the game on ‘Hockey Night in Canada’ by play-by-play man Jack Michaels.<\/p>\n

‘There’s a baby being born on the seventh floor of Rogers Place as we speak, so, someone’s gonna have a great story to tell,’ Michaels noted.<\/p>\n

The announcer joked that he’d like to have mother and child join them on their post-game show, but recognized ‘that could be asking a bit much.’<\/p>\n

The Edmonton Oilers did not immediately return Daily Mail’s request for comment on the condition of the mother and child.<\/p>\n

While a rare occurrence, this is certainly not the first time that a woman has gone into labor at a sporting event.<\/p>\n

The condition of the mother and child wasn’t made clear on a night the Oilers lost to Vegas<\/p>\n

In 2023, a cousin of Cleveland Browns wideout David Bell gave birth inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis before a game against the Colts.<\/p>\n

The mother went into labor as she arrived at the game, which came about four days prior to her due date.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another woman gave birth at Petco Park in San Diego during a game between the Padres and the San Francisco Giants.<\/p>\n

A nurse working the game, who happened to also be a midwife, reportedly delivered the baby near the Padres’ team store.<\/p>\n

As for the woman in Edmonton, if the baby came out crying, then there was plenty for the newborn to be upset about after the Oilers lost 5-1.<\/p>\n

Defenseman Evan Bouchard scored the lone goal for Edmonton, who ended a five-game winning streak.<\/p>\n
