If the Detroit<\/a> Red Wings are going to make the playoffs, it\u2019s you, the loyal fans of the team, who must play a vital role. We know this to be true because it\u2019s the first question every TV talking head asks in a post-game scrum.<\/p>\n

They always start by questioning a player about how inspired they are by the loud, loyal support coming from the fan base on game night. And naturally, the answer is that this support is so valuable, it\u2019s like starting the game with a one-goal lead.<\/p>\n

So the question that must be asked then is, what\u2019s wrong with you, Red Wings fans? What is it that you aren\u2019t doing right?<\/p>\n

In the midst of the most important games of the season, it\u2019s evident that you\u2019re letting the side down. Fighting for their playoff lives, Sunday\u2019s 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Wild<\/a> was Detroit\u2019s fourth straight home-ice loss in regulation.<\/p>\n

Maybe it\u2019s the players who should be booing the fans.<\/p>\n

Interesting post game interview from Andrew Copp. Fan negativity is getting to the room\u2026 not surprising whatsoever given we are a Detroit team.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels a little heavy for sure,\u201d Red Wings forward Andrew Copp<\/a> said of the pressure to make the playoffs. \u201cSo that\u2019s, I mean, that\u2019s \u2026 you guys have jobs to do, fans have, you know, like, that\u2019s it is what it is.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s on us to not let it creep in. In this day and age, that is pretty hard.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe gotta find a way not to let it weigh on us. You know, we\u2019ve got a way to free ourselves up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Okay, so us ink-stained wretches \u2013 can you still call us that in this digital age? We\u2019ll shoulder our share of the blame. We\u2019re accustomed to being the scapegoats.<\/p>\n

Red Wings Can\u2019t Stop The Bleeding<\/p>\n

Last week, when the issue was raised about coach Todd McLellan<\/a> noting that some of his Red Wings were nothing more than guys wearing jerseys<\/a> in some games, Copp sought to turn that into a media production.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think those kind of get taken and ran with in the media,\u201d Copp said.<\/p>\n

Yeah, the nerve of those in the media to actually report on what the coach and the players say during interviews.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been a fan of #LGRW<\/a> since the late 80s and will be a long time after players like JT Compher have gone. As a player, you have to ask yourself why such noise is happening and if you cannot confront the reality of the answer, then you don\u2019t deserve to wear the jersey imo #LGRW<\/a><\/p>\n

Sorry, but we\u2019re not about to let the players off the hook when they don\u2019t deliver the goods. And neither is their coach.<\/p>\n

McLellan sees the problem within his team as lacking bandages, not lacking confidence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think we stop the bleeding when we start to bleed,\u201d McLellan assessed to what ails his team.. \u201cAnd is that confidence? I don\u2019t know. I think that that\u2019s mental fortitude, the ability to dig in and respond when it\u2019s not going well.\u201d<\/p>\n

He pointed to Sunday afternoon\u2019s game. The Red Wings surrendered a 1-0 first-period lead by allowing Minnesota to score four unanswered second-period goals. Then the Red Wings rallied to tie the score in the third period before ultimately falling.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we lacked confidence, did we find it between the second and third, then, and come back, come out and play that type of game?\u201d McLellan asked rhetorically. \u201cWe just have to stop the bleeding when it starts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Copp made a promise to the fans following Sunday\u2019s loss, one we\u2019re sure you\u2019ve heard before. They\u2019ll be coming with their best game when they face the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, we\u2019re not gonna cry ourselves to sleep tonight and bail on the last five games,\u201d Copp said after Sunday\u2019s game. \u201cIt\u2019s not the DNA in the room. It\u2019s not the DNA of our profession in general.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it\u2019s gonna suck tonight. [Monday\u2019s] an off day for us. After a back-to-back, we regroup, and we\u2019re gonna come with the most amount of intensity and jam that we can bring on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not six feet under yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
