Leon Draisaitl just gave Kris Knoblauch and the Oilers a massive playoff jolt.<\/p>\n

Two weeks ago, this looked simple.<\/p>\n

Draisaitl was ruled out for the rest of the regular season after a lower-body injury against the Predators on March 15, and the focus shifted to survival.<\/p>\n

Now that timeline has changed in a big way.<\/p>\n

A new update has pushed Draisaitl into the maybe-for-Game-1 category, which is a lot earlier than most people around Edmonton expected when the first injury news landed.<\/p>\n

That matters because this wasn’t a minor absence.<\/p>\n

Draisaitl left that Nashville game after getting bumped hard along the boards, and once the club shut him down for the stretch run, the assumption was that the playoffs were the only target.<\/p>\n

The clip making the rounds shows him moving with more confidence and putting real weight through his stride instead of favoring one side.<\/p>\n

His touch around the circles changes how teams defend the entire zone.<\/p>\n

The timing is huge for Knoblauch’s group.<\/p>\n

Edmonton entered the weekend tied with Anaheim at 87 points and sitting first in the Pacific Division on the tiebreak.<\/p>\n

That’s why a healthy Draisaitl for Game 1 would feel like adding a star at the deadline without giving up a single asset.<\/p>\n

It resets the middle of the ice, eases the load on McDavid, and puts everyone else back into slots that make more sense.<\/p>\n

Jason Dickinson has been asked to handle larger minutes in Draisaitl’s absence.<\/p>\n

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has also had to move around the lineup.<\/p>\n

That kind of patchwork can hold for a short run, but it’s not the version of Edmonton that scares contenders.<\/p>\n

A Draisaitl return also matters because Zach Hyman is already being managed through a nagging issue.<\/p>\n

Knoblauch said the winger could be ready in a window of 5 to 14 days, so Edmonton needs one of its elite finishers back at full speed.<\/p>\n

If Draisaitl is available when the playoffs open, the Oilers suddenly look deeper, calmer, and far more dangerous off the rush and on special teams.<\/p>\n

And if he’s close now, the rest of the West just got a problem they were not expecting this soon.<\/p>\n
