Porter Martone, the Flyers\u2019 2025 first-round pick (6th overall), has been vocal about his lifelong fandom for the Orange & Black. He grew up in Canada as a Flyers fan, even had his name on the jumbotron at the Wells Fargo Center as a kid, and called joining the team a \u201cno-brainer\u201d after signing his three-year entry-level contract on March 29, 2026.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old right winger left Michigan State (where he led the Spartans with 25 goals and 50 points as a freshman) to jump straight into the NHL lineup for the Flyers\u2019 late-season playoff push. He\u2019s already made an impact in just a handful of games, including scoring his first NHL goal\u2014a power-play overtime winner against the Boston Bruins on April 5, 2026, that gave Philly a huge 2-1 victory and boosted their playoff positioning.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s amazing. I can honestly say, best fans in the league,\u201d Porter Martone said on playing in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Martone made Flyers history with that overtime goal this past Sunday. He became the first player in Flyers history to score his first NHL goal in overtime, per NHL Stats.<\/p>\n

All in all, Martone exhibits a \u201cPerfect Flyer\u201d for his speed, skill, and grit. He\u2019s wearing #94 and looks right at home in the room, \u201cI played with him at World\u2019s and you would never know he was a Junior kid,\u201d Travis Konecny said of Martone.\u201dHe\u2019s only going to get better. It\u2019s important to have him for this stretch here, he\u2019s a key piece.\u201d<\/p>\n
