Although they are currently sitting as the third seed in the Pacific Division, they were predicted to run away with this division, and now they are just three points away from missing the playoffs. With 16 overtime losses, they have been one of the unluckiest teams in the NHL this season. However, Vegas has been destroying the West Coast, defeating the Calgary Flames 6-3 on Thursday and defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 on Saturday, so they need to take advantage of an easier matchup against the Canucks tonight.

Vancouver Canucks News and Notes:

The Vancouver Canucks have officially clinched last place in the NHL and the highest odds for the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. However, today is a massive opportunity to take a big win against one of their biggest division rivals in the Vegas Golden Knights, for the sole purpose of sky-rocketing morale. The Canucks are looking for revenge after the Golden Knights took the season series handily, 2-0, and outscored the Canucks 9-4 through those two games.

Vegas Golden Knights Projected Lines:

Howden-Eichel-Dorofeyev
Barbashev-Marner-Stone
R. He also grabbed an assist in Saturday’s game against the Oilers, which was a much more well-rounded game for the Golden Knights. There were four Golden Knights with a multi-point game on Saturday, striking from all sides. Jack Eichel dished out three assists, Ivan Barbashev dished out two assists, and Brett Howden and Jeremy Lauzon both potted a goal and grabbed an assist, creating a very difficult landscape for Vancouver to defend.

Vancouver Canucks:

Linus Karlsson continues to blossom as one of the top rookies in the NHL right now, capitalizing twice against the Utah Mammoth on Saturday. That makes 15 goals and 18 assists in a breakout year for Linus Karlsson, and with a wide-open roster in Vancouver, you can expect a lot more from Karlsson in the near future. Filip Hronek has also been coming into his own down the stretch, grabbing five points in his last four games, including two assists on Saturday against the Mammoth.

Injury Report:

Vegas Golden Knights:

LW Jonas Rondbjerg – IR
C William Karlsson – LTIR
D Alex Pietrangelo – SELTIR

Vancouver Canucks:

LW Evander Kane – Day to Day
G Kevin Lankinen – Day to Day
C Filip Chytil – IR
D Derek Forbort – LTIR
G Thatcher Demko – LTIR

Next Game:

Vegas Golden Knights: Thursday, April 9 at Seattle Kraken – 10 pm ET
Vancouver Canucks: Thursday, April 9 vs. Los Angeles Kings – 10:30 pm ET

Discover more from Inside The Rink

Subscribe to get the latest posts sent to your email.

Vegas Golden Knights (35-26-16, 86 pts) at Vancouver Canucks (22-46-8, 52 pts)Venue: Rogers ArenaDate: Tuesday, April 7Time: 10:00…

[462
7704,1741,26,146,4238,5,1259,1041,9247,8079,533,4,465,466,31,3154
0":"post-545740","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nhl-draft","8":"tag-2026-nhl-draft","9":"tag-brett-howden","10":"tag-calgary-flames","11":"tag-edmonton-oilers","12":"tag-filip-hronek","13":"tag-hockey","14":"tag-ivan-barbashev","15":"tag-jack-eichel","16":"tag-jeremy-lauzon","17":"tag-linus-karlsson","18":"tag-mitch-marner","19":"tag-nhl","20":"tag-nhl-draft","21":"tag-nhl-entry-draft","22":"tag-toronto-maple-leafs","23":"tag-utah-mammoth
["GET
