{"id":545792,"date":"2026-04-07T16:09:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T16:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/545792\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T16:09:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T16:09:13","slug":"pelley-hires-the-coaches-agency-to-find-next-maple-leafs-head-of-hockey-ops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/545792\/","title":{"rendered":"Pelley hires The Coaches Agency to find next Maple Leafs head of hockey ops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO \u2014 The first step in Keith Pelley\u2019s quest to hire a new head of hockey operations for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/toronto-maple-leafs\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"toronto-maple-leafs\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> is complete.<\/p>\n<p>The president and CEO of MLSE has hired Neil Glasberg\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thecoachesagency.com\/meet-our-team\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Coaches Agency<\/a>\u00a0to conduct the critical job search, Sportsnet learned Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Glasberg and his team previously conducted NHL executive searches that landed Jim Rutherford in Vancouver, Pat Verbeek in Anaheim, and Keith Jones in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be the most important decision I make during my tenure at MLSE,\u201d Pelley announced at last week\u2019s press conference to discuss his replacement plan for fired GM Brad Treliving.<\/p>\n<p>Pelley said he was open to hiring a club president and a general manager, or one candidate who could fill both roles. His preference was to have a new head of Maple Leafs hockey operations in place prior to the NHL Draft Combine, which begins May 31.<\/p>\n<p>Maple Leafs assistant general managers Brandon Pridham and Ryan Hardy are currently running Toronto\u2019s hockey operations on an interim basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe No. 1 goal right now is for us to move as quick as we possibly can into an exhaustive search to put somebody in place to run hockey operations who will be able to make those decisions,\u201d Pelley said.<\/p>\n<p>The well-connected Glasberg declined Tuesday to provide details on the status of the Maple Leafs\u2019 job search or which candidates are being considered, citing confidentiality.<\/p>\n<p>A glimpse of Glasberg\u2019s approach can be gleaned through his website, which stresses that \u201cteam management talent needs to be properly sourced, properly vetted, and evaluated based on competencies, qualifications and accomplishments, rather than by the breadth of their network of contacts.
