The Ottawa Senators have five games left, yes, five season-deciding games. The Sens have come so far since the Olympic break even as every possible disaster has been thrown at them. It’s been a fun few weeks to watch which is why we need this journey to continue into the playoffs.<\/p>\n
A win against Carolina put the Sens slightly ahead of the pack for the second wildcard spot and they now sit with a 74% playoff probability. While scoreboard watching will continue this week, ultimately \u2013 and get ready for this \u2013 “the Sens control their own destiny”. Yes, it may the overused term of the season but it doesn’t make it any less true.<\/p>\n
The Bolts are coming off a 4-2 loss against the Sabres last night and while they have already clinched their spot, they are still looking for to lock up their home ice advantage. I wouldn’t rely too much on a team like the Lightning to be “too tired” from playing last night so the Sens need to come out strong and early. If they can’t beat them then at least aim for an OT point, but the Sens showed against the Hurricanes that they are more than capable of playing a well structured game when the entire team puts the full effort.<\/p>\n
