The Calgary Flames are slowly building towards something magical.<\/p>\n
Under GM Craig Conroy, they have been able to add plenty of draft picks and prospects as they have shifted into a rebuilding stage.<\/p>\n
To no surprise, given where they\u2019re at as an organization, the Flames have struggled this season, sitting 30th in NHL standings with only six games to go. Those struggles could wind up leading to a top-three pick at the 2026 draft, something fans throughout Calgary are monitoring very closely.<\/p>\n
Adding a high-end prospect would only continue the excellent work the Flames are doing as of late. In fact, Scott Wheeler of The Athletic has put them third on his 2026 NHL prospect pool rankings.<\/p>\n

Curran, meanwhile, was acquired in the Nazem Kadri deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n Not only will the Flames likely be adding a top-five \u2014 if not top-three \u2014 pick at this year\u2019s draft, but they also own another first-round pick from the Vegas Golden Knights that came in the Noah Hanifin deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n In other words, should the Flames continue drafting as they have in recent years, they could soon be adding two more can\u2019t-miss prospects to the organization.
