Two goals by Trevor Zegras<\/a> in the first four minutes of the first set the tone, as the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> stayed the course in their playoff pursuit with a 5-1 win over the New Jersey Devils<\/a> on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n How It Happened<\/p>\n The Flyers quickly opened up a 2-0 lead in the first. Just 1:56 into the game, Zegras scored his 24th goal of the season to set a new career high after a perfect setup by Owen Tippett<\/a> and Travis Sanheim<\/a>. Less than two minutes later on the power play, Zegras scored again off a feed from Porter Martone<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Devils controlled play in the first from there, getting on the board at 12:12 on a deflection by Cody Glass<\/a> for his 18th of the season. They did it with a fast start, weathered the Devils’ push for the latter half of the first period, then got opportunistic off the rush for two more goals in the second to open up a three-goal lead. They continue to get the job done in these crucial games, and now that they hold a playoff spot, that’s the only thing that matters.
