Buffalo\u00a0Sabres\u00a0captain Rasmus Dahlin\u00a0has been nominated for the 2026 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, the\u00a0Professional Hockey Writers Association\u00a0announced Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The PHWA nominates one player from each team for the annual award, which is given \u201cto the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.\u201d The winner will be announced later this spring.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dahlin\u2019s fianc\u00e9e, Carolina, underwent an emergency heart transplant last summer.\u00a0Twice this season, Dahlin returned to Sweden to be with her during her recovery. Carolina recently returned to Buffalo and attended the team\u2019s game against Boston on March 25.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Missing four games\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0slow down the superstar defenseman, who\u2019s got 70 points (18+52) and could pass his career high of 73 from three seasons ago. After sticking around through some difficult seasons in Buffalo, the 2018 first-overall pick has led the Sabres to their first Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance since 2011.\u00a0<\/p>\n
