{"id":547772,"date":"2026-04-08T17:37:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T17:37:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/547772\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T17:37:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T17:37:11","slug":"the-anaheim-ducks-are-limping-into-the-playoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/547772\/","title":{"rendered":"The Anaheim Ducks are limping into the playoffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">The <a class=\"text-secondary underline underline-offset-2\" hreflang=\"en\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyfaceoff.com\/teams\/anaheim-ducks\/line-combinations\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a> are losers of six straight, including a 5-0 home defeat at the hands of the <a class=\"text-secondary underline underline-offset-2\" hreflang=\"en\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyfaceoff.com\/teams\/nashville-predators\/line-combinations\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nashville Predators<\/a> on Tuesday night. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">On Wednesday\u2019s episode of <a class=\"text-secondary underline underline-offset-2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=x6fsdL7q4io\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" hreflang=\"en\">Daily Faceoff LIVE<\/a>, Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discuss the Ducks\u2019 struggles and what they need to improve on as they prepare for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">Tyler Yaremchuk: Lukas Dostal gave the Ducks some cover at different points this season, but they\u2019re defensive play as of late \u2026 when you look at their expected goals against during their six-game losing streak: 3.3, 4.7, 3.6, then 2.2, then 3.7, 4.6 \u2026 you\u2019re just not going to win games if you\u2019re giving up north of 3.5 expected goals. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">I get that their offense has been great, and even in a 5-0 loss to Nashville, they put 43 shots on Justus Annunen. But if you play well for six games and you run into a hot goalie, then OK, you\u2019ll go 2-4 or 3-3 and who cares, you can shrug and say you ran into a hot goalie. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">But you lose that excuse when you\u2019re so poor defensively and the losses are piling up. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">Carter Hutton: That\u2019s the biggest factor here: the way they\u2019re defending and what they\u2019re giving up. It\u2019s just not sustainable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg\">For the Anaheim Ducks, at this stage of their rebuilding after missing the playoffs and being back in it, there\u2019s gotta be a bit of urgency. There\u2019s team chasing you and this is going to be an odd finish from what we expected.
