In a pretty competitive game, <a class=\"text-accent\" href=\"https:\/\/flamesnation.ca\/news\/instant-reaction-flames-get-the-l-but-earn-a-point-in-big-d\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Flames and Stars went to overtime<\/a>. In that overtime period, Flames forward Ryan Strome was called for high-sticking for a hit where his stick caught Stars forward Jason Robertson high enough, and with enough force, to draw blood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tweet-body_root__o7v_S\" lang=\"en\" dir=\"auto\">Ryan Strome takes a four minute high sticking penalty in overtime. <\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfa5: Sportsnet | <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/Flames\" class=\"tweet-link_root__sXUw7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">#Flames<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Due to the drawing of blood, the officials levied a double minor penalty to Strome. On the resulting power play, the Stars put nine shots on the Flames net. Eight of them were stopped by Flames netminder Devin Cooley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tweet-body_root__o7v_S\" lang=\"en\" dir=\"auto\">Wyatt Johnston scores the OT winner. <\/p>\n<p>Flames lose 4-3 <\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfa5: Sportsnet | <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/Flames\" class=\"tweet-link_root__sXUw7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">#Flames<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday afternoon, the NHL\u2019s Department of Player Safety concluded their review of the incident and announced that Strome has been fined $5,000 \u2013 the maximum permitted under the collective bargaining agreement \u2013 for the incident, which the league termed \u201ccross-checking.\u201d It\u2019s the third time in Strome\u2019s 913 game NHL career that he\u2019s faced any supplemental discipline, following a fine in April 2023 for unsportsmanlike conduct and a fine in March 2024 for cross-checking.<\/p>\n<p>Strome\u2019s hit came slightly after he was crushed into the boards from behind by Stars defender Tyler Myers on a play that was initially called a major penalty for boarding, then had the penalty rescinded entirely after video review.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tweet-body_root__o7v_S\" lang=\"en\" dir=\"auto\">Tyler Myers smashes Ryan Strome into the boards directly from behind. <\/p>\n<p>They originally called a 5 minute major. Consequently, the Flames have been involved in a pair of incidents that resulted in supplemental discipline towards the other team: Dallas\u2019 Mikko Rantanen getting an automatic one game suspension after receiving a game misconduct for boarding Matt Coronato in November, and A.J.
