The Buffalo Sabres<\/a>, who are back in the playoffs<\/a> for the first time since 2011, also have a chance to win the Atlantic Division title.<\/p>\n

They can take a step toward that on Wednesday, April 8<\/a>. If the Sabres (102 points) pick up at least a point against the New York Rangers, they will break their three-way tie with the Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> and Montreal Canadiens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But if they lose in regulation, they will drop to third place in the division based on points percentage.<\/p>\n

The same thing applies in the Pacific Division. The Edmonton Oilers<\/a> are tied with the Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> at 88 points and hold the tiebreaker edge<\/a>. They can lead outright by gaining at least a point against the San Jose Sharks<\/a> on Wednesday. If they lose in regulation, they will fall to second in the division.<\/p>\n

The Sharks need the win because they trail the Nashville Predators<\/a> by three points in the race for the second wild-card spot in the West. Wednesday will be one of their two games in hand.<\/p>\n
