(WKBW) \u2014 Buffalo Sabres forward Alex Tuch and his family made a $50,000 donation to Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo. A gesture they say was a \u2018thank you\u2019 to the staff for saving their son&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p>For Alex and his wife, Kylie, the hardest days of their lives had absolutely nothing to do with hockey.<\/p>\n<p>When their youngest son, Teller, was born in April 2025 at Sisters of Charity Hospital, worry immediately set in.<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1775863840_770_.jpeg\" alt=\"Tuch's Truck\"  width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/><\/p>\n<p>WKBW<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeller came out, and we couldn\u2019t get him to breathe properly\u2026 His lungs collapsed three different times. We witnessed one of them,\u201d Alex said. \u201cIt was probably the longest two and a half weeks of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t even speak about it to this day without crying,\u201d Kylie said.<\/p>\n<p>Teller would spend more than two weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit before the family would finally get some good news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter two and a half weeks, we got some really good news that Teller\u2019s lungs had fully developed, and that the puncture in his lung was healed,\u201d Alex said. \u201cHe was able to go home, and that was one of the best moments of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s perfect. He\u2019s so healthy now. We don\u2019t have to worry. Everybody here reassured us so much when they sent us home that he would be okay, and it was nerve-wracking,\u201d Kylie said. \u201cWe\u2019re just so happy to have this perfect little guy at home, and so grateful for everybody here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Teller nears his first birthday on the 28th, the Tuch family is giving back to the hospital that saved their son\u2019s life in the form of a $50,000 donation announced inside Sisters Hospital on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1775863862_675_.jpeg\" alt=\"Tuch's Truck\"  width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/><\/p>\n<p>WKBW<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[We want to] do anything to help the wonderful people here at this hospital for everything they did for us,\u201d Alex said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe $50,000 will be used to support care in our NICU for extraordinarily advanced and state-of-the-art needs,\u201d Hospital President Meghan Aldrich said. \u201cWe are very very grateful to the Tuch\u2019s. The Tuch family has made a wonderful difference for us.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>To commemorate that donation, the hospital has renamed its neonatal transport rig \u201cTuch\u2019s Truck.\u201d The newly named truck safely transports the hospital\u2019s youngest patients to and from other facilities.<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1775863864_940_.jpeg\" alt=\"TUCH'S TRUCK\"  width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/><\/p>\n<p>WKBW<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rig is essentially an ICU on wheels,\u201d Aldrich said.<\/p>\n<p>Alex and Kylie made the announcement alongside their two sons Tripp and Teller, and their family is getting bigger in the fall.
