Tonight was the NCAA awards night for the 2025-26 college hockey season. Tomorrow will be the National Championship with Wisconsin and Denver facing off. During tonight\u2019s awards ceremony, two Red Wings prospects took home some hardware. Forward Max Plante, playing at Minnesota-Duluth, was named the Hobey Baker Award winner for the player in the country. Goalie Trey Augustine took home the Mike Richter Award for best goalie in the country. Augustine played at Michigan State. He is also playing tonight for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. It is his first professional start in his career. He has stopped 27 of the 28 shots he has faced as of publishing, and the Griffins lead 3-1.<\/p>\n

Max Plante<\/p>\n

Detroit drafted Plante 47th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. In 40 games this season, he had 52 points on 25 goals and 27 assists. He\u2019s a +19 with eight power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and six game-winning goals. He was also an assistant captain for Team USA in the WJC, where in three games he had a goal and was a minus-three. He\u2019s third in the country in points, fourth in goals, and 15th in assists. and tied for eighth in power-play goals.<\/p>\n

Trey Augustine<\/p>\n

Detroit drafted Augustine 41st overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. This season in 34 games for the Spartans, he went 24-9-1 with a 2.11 goals-against average, a .929 save percentage, and three shutouts. He was third in the country in wins, 11th in goals-against average, and sixth in save percentage.<\/p>\n
