It’s also the fourth and final meeting of the season series between the two teams.

The Blackhawks have emerged victorious in two of the first three matchups this year, defeating the Blues 8-3 at Enterprise Center on Oct. 15 and 7-3 at the United Center on Jan. 7. St. Louis’ lone win of the season series came on Dec. 12, besting Chicago 3-2 on home ice. That was also the game where star forward Connor Bedard suffered a shoulder injury in the final second, forcing him to be out of the lineup for nearly one month.

Last time out, the Blackhawks were throttled 7-2 by the Carolina Hurricanes at the United Center on Thursday, recording their ninth loss in the last 11 games. On the bright side, rookie Anton Frondell continued his excellent start to his NHL career, tallying both goals for Chicago to give him eight points (3G, 5A) through his first nine games. Louis Crevier picked up a primary assist on each of Frondell’s two goals. Spencer Knight allowed seven goals on 22 shots faced to pick up the loss in net.

The Blues are coming off a disappointing 3-2 home loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday and have dropped back-to-back games to all but ruin their chances of sneaking into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dylan Holloway (PP) and Colton Parayko were the two goal scorers in the game for St. Louis. Former Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews netted the game-winning goal for Winnipeg late in the second period.

With 78 points through 78 games this season, the Blues are currently seven points back of the Los Angeles Kings for the second and final Wild Card playoff spot in the Western Conference. Only four games remain on their schedule, meaning the maximum amount of points they can accrue before the end of the year is 86. Even if St. Louis earned four consecutive wins to close out the season, it surely won’t be enough to earn a postseason position.

Here’s everything else to note before the puck drops at 4:00 p.m. CT in Chicago.

Blackhawks Projected Lineup

Forward Lines

Ryan Greene — Connor Bedard — Nick Lardis

Tyler Bertuzzi — Anton Frondell — Ilya Mikheyev

Ryan Donato — Frank Nazar — Andre Burakovsky

Andrew Mangiapane — Sacha Boisvert — Teuvo Teravainen

Defensive Pairings

Alex Vlasic-Louis Crevier

Wyatt Kaiser-Sam Rinzel

Kevin Korchinski-Ethan Del Mastro

Scratched

F — Sam Lafferty, F — Landon Slaggert, F — Dominic Toninato

Injured

D — Matt Grzelcyk (undisclosed), D — Artyom Levshunov (hand), F — Oliver Moore (lower body)

Blues Projected Lineup

Forward Lines

Dylan Holloway — Robert Thomas — Jimmy Snuggerud

Otto Stenberg — Pavel Buchnevich — Jordan Kyrou

Jake Neighbours — Dalibor Dvorsky — Jonatan Berggren

Alexey Toropchenko — Pius Suter — Oskar Sundqvist

Defensive Pairings

Philip Broberg-Logan Mailloux

Theo Lindstein-Colton Parayko

Cam Fowler-Tyler Tucker

Scratched

F — Jonathan Drouin, F — Jack Finley, D — Justin Holl, D — Matthew Kessel, F — Nathan Walker

Injured

None

Projected Goaltending Matchup

Arvid Soderblom (8-12-3, 3.74 GAA, .882 Sv%, 1 SO) vs. Joel Hofer (21-13-5, 2.58 GAA, .910 Sv%, 6 SO)

Soderblom is expected to make his 24th start of the season for the Blackhawks.
