Porter Martone continues to make Flyers history in his early NHL career. The 19-year-old rookie (drafted 6th overall by the Flyers in 2025) signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Flyers on March 29, 2026, after a standout freshman season at Michigan State where he led the team with 25 goals and 50 points in 35 games. <\/p>\n

Martone made his NHL Debut on March 31 against the Washington Capitals and has been a spark for the team ever since.<\/p>\n

Key Achievements So Far<\/p>\n

Historic first NHL goal: On April 5, Martone scored the overtime winner against the Boston Bruins, giving the Flyers a 2-1 victory. He became the first player in Flyers franchise history to score his debut NHL goal in overtime (and the second-youngest in NHL history to do so at 19 years, 161 days old). nhl.com
\nStrong start: Through his first seven NHL games (as of April 12, 2026), Martone has recorded 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points. This places him with the second-most points by any Flyers player through their first seven games since the 2000-01 season. He also leads all NHL rookies in points since his debut.
\nMulti-point games: He became the fifth Flyers rookie in the past 40 years to record multiple multi-point games within his first six NHL contests. His latest contributions (including a power-play goal and assist in a recent loss to Detroit) have helped keep the Flyers in the playoff hunt in the Metropolitan Division. <\/p>\n

In the Flyers\u2019 recent 7-1 rout of the Winnipeg Jets (April 11), Martone scored again (his third goal), with chemistry showing alongside veterans like Travis Konecny and Christian Dvorak. The team is pushing hard for a playoff spot, and Martone\u2019s early impact\u2014on both even-strength and power play\u2014has been a big part of their late surge.<\/p>\n
