<\/a><\/p>\nSt. Cloud State has named Nick Oliver its new head coach, replacing Brett Larson, who went to Minnesota.<\/p>\n
CHN reported last week that the job was Oliver’s to lose, but an announcement was likely being delayed by Wisconsin’s continued participation in the NCAA Tournament. Oliver, a St. Cloud State alum, has been on the Wisconsin staff as an assistant. The Badgers lost the NCAA national championship game to Denver on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Oliver is the fourth head coach of the D-I era.<\/p>\n

We have tremendous alumni and supporters of the program that I look forward to speaking with. My family and I couldn\u2019t be more excited to call St. Cloud home again.\u201d<\/p>\n
A former Husky captain, Oliver has coaches seven seasons in college hockey and four in the USHL. His teams reached two Frozen Fours, and won a USHL regular-season championship under his watch.<\/p>\n
Oliver returns to St. Cloud for the second time after spending the past three seasons at Wisconsin under SCSU alum Mike Hastings.<\/p>\n
Oliver was named USHL Coach of the Year during his one season at Fargo.<\/p>\n
Oliver spent four seasons (2018-22) on the bench for one of the most successful runs of Husky Hockey. It included three NCAA Tournament appearances, an NCHC regular season championship and a NCAA Frozen Four appearance.<\/p>\n
Oliver began his coaching career immediately after his collegiate playing career concluded in 2015, spending three seasons with the USHL\u2019s Sioux Falls Stampede (2015-18) as an assistant coach and director of scouting.<\/p>\n
The Roseau, Minn., native played in 145 career games at SCSU from 2011-15. The Huskies won the WCHA regular-season title in 2013, the inaugural NCHC regular-season title in 2014, made three consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament (2013-15), including the 2013 Frozen Four.
