Sergeev was recalled from Calgary of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/devin-cooley-8482445\" title=\"Devin Cooley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Devin Cooley<\/a> unavailable due to illness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, it\u2019s living the dream,\u201d said Sergeev. \u201cIt\u2019s everything I dream about. I\u2019m so excited. I don\u2019t have words right now. I\u2019m just overemotional.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/quinton-byfield-8482124\" title=\"Quinton Byfield\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Quinton Byfield<\/a> scored his fourth goal in the past three games for the Kings (35-27-20), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/anton-forsberg-8476341\" title=\"Anton Forsberg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anton Forsberg<\/a>\u00a0made 18 saves.<\/p>\n<p>Despite outshooting the Flames 10-2 in the first period, the Kings weren\u2019t able to beat Sergeev, whose best save came at 10:23 when he reached behind to make a paddle save to stop a shot by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/trevor-moore-8479675\" title=\"Trevor Moore\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trevor Moore<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou kind of had a feeling that he was going to have a good night tonight,\u201d Flames coach Ryan\u00a0Huska said of Sergeev\u2019s debut. \u201cHe showed up this morning really not knowing what was going on or what was happening and he went from maybe you might skate this morning to maybe you might back up to you\u2019re going to start. Pretty excited young man and I think he did a great job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frost scored his team-leading 22nd goal of the season to put the Flames up 1-0 at 5:21 of the second period. Situated to the left of the net, Frost swatted a cross-ice pass from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/matvei-gridin-8484860\" title=\"Matvei Gridin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Matvei Gridin<\/a>\u00a0out of the air and past Forsberg for a power-play goal.<\/p>\n<p>Byfield replied for Los Angeles 1:22 later at 6:43 to pull the Kings into a 1-1 tie. Byfield finished off a three-way passing play with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/alex-laferriere-8482155\" title=\"Alex Laferriere\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Laferriere<\/a>\u00a0and Moore, tapping a pass from Moore past Sergeev from the top of the crease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s just playing confident, he\u2019s playing loose,\u201d Smith said of\u00a0Byfield. \u201cHe\u2019s making plays. I think this is the player that I, myself, envisioned him always being. I think (what) a lot of people don\u2019t understand with \u2018Q\u2019 is he learned the game the right way, playing under \u2018Kopi\u2019 and all these other centers that were ahead of him when he got here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parekh scored the go-ahead goal at 6:08 of the third period when he snapped a shot from the left circle into the top corner over Forsberg\u2019s left shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in shock a little bit that I did that,\u201d\u00a0Parekh said. \u201cWe\u2019ve got a lot of character in this room. It\u2019s tough. You never come into these games not giving your best effort and putting your best foot forward. At the end of the day, guys jobs are on the line. You\u2019ve got to show your best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Farabee scored his 20th goal of the season into an empty net at 19:20 of the third period for the 3-1 final.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have a good group of people and they want to see teammates have success and that\u2019s a milestone for a lot of guys is to get 20 goals in the NHL is a pretty good thing,\u201d Huska said.<\/p>\n<p>NOTES: Kopitar finished his regular-season career with 452 goals and 864 assists for 1,316 points in 1,520 career NHL games.
