Sundin has since been a guest at training camp and played a major role in the organization\u2019s efforts to honor B\u00f6rje Salming, taking part in an emotional on-ice ceremony at Scotiabank Arena before Salming\u2019s death from ALS and helping organize a charity game with Leafs alumni in Gavle, Sweden, to honor his memory and raise funds for charity afterward.<\/p>\n
The Leafs are in the process of reconstructing the front office following the firing of general manager Brad Treliving on March 30. They haven\u2019t had a president of hockey operations since firing Brendan Shanahan in May of 2025 and are open to filling that role as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen he comes in a room, you sit back: \u2018Oh boy, here he is,’\u201d one league source said of Sundin. \u201cI don\u2019t know what his role would be, but he could do anything. He\u2019s that smart.\u201d<\/p>\n
