{"id":554987,"date":"2026-04-18T03:33:27","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T03:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/554987\/"},"modified":"2026-04-18T03:33:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T03:33:27","slug":"ty-mueller-joins-canucks-insider-podcast-to-chat-about-his-development-goals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/554987\/","title":{"rendered":"Ty Mueller Joins Canucks Insider Podcast to Chat about His Development Goals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ty Mueller has been consistently working on his game in preparation for making\u00a0the next jump in his pro career.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Having been drafted in the\u00a0fourth round of the 2023 NHL draft as an\u00a0overage\u00a0selection, Mueller has had time to really hone his craft at the college level, where he played at the University of Nebraska, and\u00a0was able\u00a0to play big minutes\u00a0during\u00a0his third season with the team. Mueller\u00a0felt that his game\u00a0improved significantly\u00a0as a\u00a0result,\u00a0and\u00a0it\u00a0boosted his confidence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think everything I\u00a0have\u00a0done over the last few years has gotten better, and I feel like I was ready to make that jump and challenge myself,\u201d Mueller said. \u201cThe better you get at those [skills], the more you\u2019re going to be trusted, and in the end,\u00a0the more confident you\u2019ll be.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mueller has developed into a player\u00a0who\u00a0can be relied upon in all situations, and has gained experience playing on the power play, penalty kill, and various positions up and down the lineup. His versatility has been an asset that he takes pride\u00a0in,\u00a0and\u00a0he\u00a0has tailored his training programs to become as well-rounded as possible.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look at different things throughout the year where I noticed that I\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0doing great and needed some work.\u00a0I think those\u00a0are some\u00a0things\u00a0that I will focus on,\u201d Mueller said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Canucks coaching and development staff have played a key role in helping Mueller recognize areas of his game he should work on or improve. Hearing feedback from the likes of the Sedin twins, who are\u00a0very involved\u00a0in player development, are opportunities that young players like Mueller do not take for granted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love hearing feedback,\u201d Mueller said. \u201cFor me, I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0take it personally ever.\u00a0I take it as fuel,\u00a0and\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0what I need to do.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0nice to have that direction from somebody else, especially the Sedins, and guys who have done it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mueller was part of the Calder Cup-winning Abbotsford Canucks team last season, where he registered 12 points (2G, 9A) across 24 games. Along with this remarkable achievement, Mueller had learned a lot from the experience,\u00a0and\u00a0what stuck out the most to him\u00a0was the\u00a0strength of the\u00a0culture.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery guy, at the end of the day, had the same goal. By the time\u00a0the\u00a0playoffs rolled around, everyone was all in. Every single guy wanted to win, and adding to that, every single guy would lay on the line for another teammate,\u201d Mueller said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all had each other\u2019s backs.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mueller also spoke highly of Abbotsford Canucks Head Coach\u00a0Manny Malhotra and\u00a0expressed how he appreciates his coaching style that is direct and honest.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just like that, no nonsense approach.
