Scott Wedgewood will start Game 1 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Colorado Avalanche coach Jared Bednar told reporters Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
The Avs will face the Los Angeles Kings at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Ball Arena<\/a>. It will be the first Stanley Cup Playoffs start for Wedgewood. He\u2019s appeared in four NHL postseason games in relief.<\/p>\n Wedgewood, 33, is the eighth-oldest goaltender to get his first playoff start in NHL history, per NHL stats. He\u2019s the oldest to do so since Anton Khudobin got his first in 2020 for the Dallas Stars.<\/p>\n Wedgewood finished the regular season at 31-6-6 with a .921 save percentage and a 2.02 goals against average \u2014 both were the best in the NHL among qualified goalies.
