The Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> have a 2-0 series lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins in their first-round Stanley Cup Playoffs<\/a> series. Porter Martone made history on Monday night<\/a>, scoring for the second straight game as the Flyers notched a 3-0 victory.<\/p>\n

After the victory, Martone spoke to the media about his historic run<\/a> and the Flyers’ victory, per Wes Crosby of NHL.com.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019ve got to give a lot of credit to the guys in this room,\u201d Martone said. \u201cThey\u2019ve taught me a lot, not just on the hockey side, but the life side. I\u2019ve said this before, but I think I made the jump (from college) because I thought I was ready and I thought I could help this team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martone scored late in the third period in Game 1 against the Flyers, in what turned out to be the game-winning goal. He then scored the first goal of the game in the second period of Game 2, also the goal that would prove to be the game-winner.<\/p>\n

With goals in each of his first two games, the 19-year old and former sixth overall pick from the 2025 NHL Draft became just the 12th teenager in NHL history to score a goal in each of his first two postseason games. He is also the first one to do it in Flyers history. He is also the first teenager in NHL history to have a game-winning goal in his first two playoff games. The immediate impact is being noticed by his teammates as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s not a lot of guys that can come in and make the impact that (Martone) has,\u201d Travis Konecny said. \u201cEspecially in the games leading up to making the playoffs, like how important those were, and for him to be able to jump in, I think it just speaks to, not his hockey ability, but to how he wants to learn.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, the Martone will look to keep making history<\/a>, as the Flyers return home for Game 3 on Wednesday night against the Penguins.<\/p>\n
