Evander Kane won’t be back with the Vancouver Canucks.<\/p>\n

The veteran winger had an inconsistent season and was in and out the lineup, and the fact Kane didn’t show up to his end-of-season media availability was writing on the wall. Kane will be a free-agent on July 1st, and while there’s certainly a ton of baggage, there still will be interest on a one-year deal at around $1 million AAV.<\/p>\n

Kane, 34, appeared in 71 games for the Canucks this season, scoring 13 goals and 31 points. He averaged 16:24 of ice-time per game, including 1:34 per game on the power play on the second unit. Kane also landed 111 hits and still brings a physical presence.<\/p>\n

While Kane didn’t have a great season with the Canucks, he did appear in 77 games in 2024-25 for the Edmonton Oilers, scoring 24 times, and adding 20 assists.<\/p>\n

For those asking why Evander Kane didn\u2019t meet with the media Friday.<\/p>\n

Kane had his exit meeting with Patrik Alvin, Jim Rutherford and Adam Foote earlier last week before the team left for the final 2 road games. <\/p>\n

He also did medical exit after the team returned from the trip.<\/p>\n

Look for Kane to sign a new contract on July 1st and it’s likely going to be with a coach who he’s familiar with, and can earn a top-nine role.<\/p>\n
