Now, it\u2019s time to get to work.<\/p>\n<p>Mehta has <a href=\"https:\/\/devilsontherush.substack.com\/p\/important-issues-devils-next-gm-must-address\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a few tasks at hand<\/a>, but among the first decisions he will face is whether to retain head coach Sheldon Keefe for the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n<p>Mehta mentioned there will be an evaluation process for everyone early on, so no decision on Keefe or anyone else has been made yet.<\/p>\n<p>Keefe has had an up-and-down tenure as the Devils\u2019 coach. They barely made the playoffs in 2024-25 and missed out comfortably this season. However, the team\u2019s struggles are far from solely his fault.
