The Edmonton Oilers<\/a> opened their first-round series with a victory, but they could do nothing to stop the Anaheim Ducks<\/a> in Game 2.<\/p>\n

Edmonton dropped a 6-4 game on Wednesday night, allowing Anaheim to even the series at 1-1, with Edmonton’s special teams failing and a late-game push from Anaheim deciding the final outcome.<\/p>\n

However, all attention was focused on Oilers captain and NHL<\/a> superstar Connor McDavid because of a play in which he suffered a serious injury scare.<\/p>\n

Midway through the second period, McDavid headed toward the locker room following an awkward sequence at center ice. The Oilers captain became tangled<\/a> with teammate Mattias Ekholm, with his right leg and ankle appearing to get caught in the collision.<\/p>\n

McDavid was briefly unable to put weight on the leg before leaving the ice, generating some uncertainty about his outlook for the rest of the game and going forward.<\/p>\n

The center returned later in the period and finished the game, logging 24:07 of ice time, though he did not appear fully comfortable and was held off the scoresheet for a second straight game.<\/p>\n

After the game, McDavid addressed the situation directly, saying<\/a>, \u201cIt just got rolled up. It is fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comments, while brief, eased concerns about a potential long-term issue, particularly given the timing early in the postseason and how bad it looked as he was heading into the locker room.<\/p>\n

Despite returning to the ice, McDavid\u2019s night included a turnover during a power play that led to a short-handed goal by the Ducks to double their lead up to 4-2 in the third period.<\/p>\n

Edmonton eventually tied the game at 4-4 with over six minutes left in regulation, but goals by Cutter Gauthier and Ryan Poehling (an empty netter) handed Anaheim the win.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been in this situation a lot, 1-1 going on the road,\u201d McDavid said. \u201cWe\u2019re comfortable on the road, we like playing on the road. Obviously, we\u2019d like a better outcome tonight and a better product tonight, but we\u2019re comfortable going on the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday in Anaheim with the series tied and puck-drop scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n
