It is Crosby’s first goal of the series.

“We were pretty happy with our start in game 3 and just wanted to try to do that again. I thought getting that first one helped us for sure. They still pushed they generated some chances but I thought between Arty and defending well and getting timing goals, we haven’t played with the lead a ton. It was nice to have that,” said Crosby after the game.

In the second period, Rickard Rakell stole a pass from Dan Vladar behind the Flyers net and back handed the puck into the net to make it 2-0 Penguins with 18:45 to play in the period.

“Just tried to pressure the goalie and the puck ended up hitting me, tried to reach for it and didn’t even see it go in, but I realized that it was in the net so obviously (it was a) great feeling to go up two goals knowing they’re going to have a pushback. Proud of everybody on our team today,” said Rakell.

Halfway through the period the Flyers had a 2 on 1 opportunity and Artūrs Šilovs denied a wrist shot and moved his pad to stop the puck so no rebound chance was there for the Flyers. Šilovs finished the night making 28 saves on 30 shots on net.

“I felt like I was seeing it (the puck) well tonight. A lot of huge blocks, guys were clearing the rebounds so I think it was an all-around effort,” said Šilovs.

“I thought he played great, some big saves. Really happy for him, especially if you look at our year we’ve gone back and forth basically the whole season and we get to the playoffs and just the way he handled that, the professionalism, the way he just focused in on his day to day, made sure that he was prepared and when his name was called he was ready. So great by him,” said head coach Dan Muse.

Philadelphia got on the board with 4:20 to play in the second period. They fought off a Penguins power play and Trevor Zegras fed a backdoor pass to Denver Barkey in front of the net for the goal.

In the third period, Kris Letang scored his first goal of the series on a slap shot to extend the Pens lead to 3-1. Letang is tied for most goals in the playoffs for an active D-man with 24. He is tied with Victor Hedman of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Just a couple minutes later, Konecny made it a one goal game again on a one-timer. Connor Dewar added an empty netter to seal the win for the Pens.

“I think there’s another level we can continue to get to but we played more whistle to whistle. I thought we were overall decisions were better to try to just you know as we’re navigating through the neutral zone, as we’ve done all year we’ll continue to look at the things that we liked from this game and look to carry them on and look at the things that we can be better at,” said Muse. “I think on any game including this one, you’re going to see both sides of it and I think this group has done a good job with that all year, just working from game to game. Great by the group tonight in terms of coming in tonight and finding that one win. Now we gotta go back to PIttsburgh and do the same thing.”

Game 5 is Monday night at 7:00 from PPG Paints Arena.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – On the brink of elimination, the Penguins beat the Flyers 4-2 in game…

[5113
5,4,118,1469,100,5216
0":"post-559724","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-pittsburgh-penguins","8":"tag-hockey","9":"tag-nhl","10":"tag-penguins","11":"tag-pittsburgh","12":"tag-pittsburgh-penguins","13":"tag-pittsburghpenguins
["GET
