Evan Gold is back in Toronto’s orbit, and Craig Berube could soon have a new voice above the bench.<\/p>\n

The Maple Leafs are still searching for a general manager, and this report points straight at the Bruins’ front office.<\/p>\n

Gold has been tied to Toronto before, but this time the talk feels bigger because it may not stop with one hire.<\/p>\n

The new wrinkle is Jamie Langenbrunner, another Bruins assistant general manager who could follow Gold north if Toronto goes that route.<\/p>\n

That would give the Leafs more than a headline hire. It would give them a built-in front-office duo with shared experience and a clear working history.<\/p>\n

“According to this same source, though, the Maple Leafs could also poach the Bruins\u2019 other Assistant General Manager, Jamie Langenbrunner,” Murphy wrote.<\/p>\n

For a team coming off a 32-36-14 season, that matters. Toronto does not need another summer built on patchwork decisions.<\/p>\n

Why this Bruins link matters with Evan Gold<\/p>\n

Boston gives this idea some weight because the Bruins finished 45-27-10 and reached 100 points. That kind of structure gets noticed around the league.<\/p>\n

Gold would bring name value in Toronto because of the hometown angle, but the bigger draw is what his group helped maintain in Boston.<\/p>\n

Langenbrunner’s profile also fits what Toronto could use. He has climbed through player development and into the assistant GM chair, which matters for a club that needs sharper decisions on roster support.<\/p>\n

That makes this more than a simple executive search. It starts to look like Toronto examining whether one organization’s model can be imported almost intact.<\/p>\n

Berube is the key hockey piece in all of this. The next GM has to line up with a coach who is already in place and needs help shaping a tougher, cleaner roster.<\/p>\n

Toronto’s -46 goal differential says the problem ran deeper than one bad stretch. This front office hire has to touch the blue line, depth scoring, and the team’s overall identity.<\/p>\n

There is still speculation here, and no final call has been made. But once two Bruins executives are connected to the same opening, this stops feeling like random noise.<\/p>\n

If Toronto hires Gold and adds Langenbrunner beside him, that would be a direct swing at changing how the organization operates, not just who signs the paperwork.<\/p>\n
