Toronto Maple Leafs are the most valuable NHL Franchise, with a value of $4.35 BILLION.<\/p>\n

New York Rangers, and Montreal Canadiens rank second and third, valued at $3.8 Billion, and $3.4 Billion, respectively.<\/p>\n

Analysis of all 32 NHL franchises reveals just how much money is in the sport.<\/p>\n

A cross analysis of CNBC\u2019s Official NHL Team Valuations (November 2025), and Forbes December 2025 data has revealed the league\u2019s most valuable franchises.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The NHL has long been dominated by the\u00a0Original Six,\u00a0franchises like the\u00a0Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs,\u00a0who still hold the\u00a0top 3 spots\u00a0as the most valuable NHL teams. But the real story isn\u2019t just about who leads, but the scale at which the league has expanded from a small circle of\u00a0six\u00a0elite franchises to\u00a032 franchises\u00a0each with over\u00a0$1 billion dollar valuations.<\/p>\n

The study, by\u00a0Betinia NJ<\/a>, analyzed NHL franchise valuation data for every team in the NHL,\u00a0looking at factors such as media rights, the construction of modern stadiums, and even U.S. Supreme court rulings, legalising sports betting, among a multitude of other variables.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Toronto Maple Leafs\u00a0take\u00a0first place, ranking as the\u00a0most valuable NHL franchise,\u00a0worth a staggering\u00a0$4.35 billion.<\/p>\n

Despite not winning a\u00a0Stanley Cup\u00a0since\u00a01967 \u2013\u00a0the longest active drought in NHL league history \u2013 the Leafs benefit from having the NHL\u2019s largest fanbase, and a prime downtown stadium in\u00a0Scotiabank Arena.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0New York Rangers\u00a0come in\u00a0second\u00a0with a\u00a0valuation of\u00a0$3.8 billion,\u00a0largely driven by having the highest regular season gate receipts in the league. Last season alone, the Rangers made\u00a0$179 million\u00a0in game-day gate receipts, totaling\u00a0$615 million\u00a0over the last four seasons alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Montreal Canadiens\u00a0take the\u00a0third spot\u00a0with a\u00a0value\u00a0of\u00a0$3.4 billion. The franchise signed a new local media rights deal in\u00a0October 2025\u00a0with\u00a0Bell Media\u00a0across both English and French channels which will see the franchise generating on average\u00a0$70- $75 million,\u00a0one of the highest in the league.<\/p>\n

Fourth place\u00a0on the list goes to the\u00a0Los Angeles Kings, valued at\u00a0$3.15 billion. Based out of the Crypto.com stadium, the Los Angeles Kings have seen a 11% jump in year on year value<\/p>\n

In\u00a0fifth place\u00a0are the\u00a0Edmonton Oilers, valued at\u00a0\u00a0$3.1 billion. The third and final Canadian team to make the list, the\u00a0Oilers\u00a0have seen the second-highest year-on-year growth of any franchise in the top ten, at 17%, second only to the\u00a0Detroit Red Wings.<\/p>\n

The remainder of the top ten features the\u00a0Boston Bruins\u00a0in sixth, and the\u00a0Chicago Blackhawks\u00a0ranking\u00a0seventh, valued at\u00a0$3.05 billion, and\u00a0$2.75 billion, respectively.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia Flyers\u00a0come in at\u00a0eighth\u00a0on the list, and the\u00a0Washington Capitals\u00a0rank\u00a0ninth, with the\u00a0Flyers\u00a0valued at\u00a0$2.6 billion, and the\u00a0Capitalsvalued at\u00a0$2.5 billion.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the list in tenth place are the\u00a0Detroit Red Wings, valued at\u00a0$2.47 billion,\u00a0as of 2025.<\/p>\n

While not in the\u00a0top 10, the\u00a0Vegas Golden Knights\u00a0rank in at 13th place. Founded in 2017, and valued at\u00a0$2.1 billion\u00a0have become\u00a0 the\u00a0most successful franchise expansion\u00a0in U.S. sports history, as well as reaching the\u00a0Stanley Cup Final\u00a0in their\u00a0first season\u00a0in 2017-18.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0Carolina Hurricanes\u00a0were the\u00a0fastest growing franchise\u00a0over the last year\u00a0with a\u00a053% year-over-year\u00a0increase in value\u00a0from $1.2 billion to $2 billion\u00a0driven by consecutive playoff runs and strong management.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The NHL\u2019s financial trajectory shows no signs of slowing down with a growing market\u00a0 where the appetite for the prestigious franchises and sport runs deep.
