RALEIGH, N.C. \u2014 In the first two games against Pittsburgh, the Flyers made winning on the road look easy. They even shut out Sidney Crosby and the Penguins in Game 2 of a six-game victory.<\/p>\n
The Flyers knew their series against the Hurricanes wouldn\u2019t be as easy. That was apparent in a series-opening 3-0 loss Saturday night at Lenovo Center.<\/p>\n
At Sunday\u2019s skate, head coach Rick Tocchet said there will be some adjustments for Monday night\u2019s Game 2.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe change the lines a bit,\u201d he said. Starting Denver Barkey at center might be one of those.<\/p>\n
A slow start is what cost the Flyers any chance in Game 1.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo me it was the first 15 minutes where we didn\u2019t look like a lot of the guys wanted the puck,\u201d Tocchet said. \u201cAgainst Carolina you\u2019re going to have to want the puck, want confrontation. You\u2019re going to want to make that play. Those are the things we didn\u2019t do early on. Tomorrow night we want 20 guys wanting the puck.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tocchet wants his players to make the little plays before going for the game-changers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to hit singles every shift,\u201d he said. \u201cCan\u2019t try to hit home runs. I just felt a lot of guys were either all in on the home run or not skating. We learned from it and we\u2019re moving on.\u201d<\/p>\n
The coach doesn\u2019t just want his players to survive Carolina\u2019s forechecking pressure, he wants them to be proactive.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a big believer in meeting pressure with pressure,\u201d he said. \u201cWherever that pressure is, go find it. We were going away from it. That\u2019s something we have to learn from.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the skate, defenseman Cam York said the Flyers have to adapt to that style. While the Penguins played a more deliberate game, the Hurricanes come at you with all-out speed, daring you to make a mistake.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you\u2019re just standing still,\u201d York said, \u201cthey\u2019re too quick, they\u2019re too on top of you. You\u2019re not going to have time and space. . .time to make plays, to get the puck out of our zone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Having seen Carolina in playoff mode, the Flyers now know what to expect.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got a good taste of it,\u201d York said. \u201cWhen you play the same team six times in a row and then two days later play a team that plays completely different, there are going to be adjustments that you have to make in your game. I think that first game was good for our team to get a taste of it and now we know what we\u2019re up against.\u201d<\/p>\n

Owen Tippett, who missed Game 1 with an injury, skated Sunday afternoon. His status for Game 2 is unknown. He\u2019s still listed as day-to-day.<\/p>\n
His absence was felt in the opener.<\/p>\n
\u201cTip is one of those guys who can get a breakaway,\u201d Tocchet said. \u201cOr get a two-on-one. So when he\u2019s out of the lineup, it\u2019s tough.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tippett led the Flyers in goals this season with 28, tying a career high.<\/p>\n

The Flyers had 44 hits in Game 1, a considerable margin over Carolina\u2019s 29. The Flyers want to play physical, but concentrating on body contact doesn\u2019t always guarantee success.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Tocchet said the Flyers need to hit back when challenged.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey had a couple big hits on us,\u201d Tocchet said. \u201cWe have to take some numbers. Hopefully we can do that earlier in the game. But every hit that happens, it\u2019s not just that moment, it can affect the series. One of those hits can knock a guy out. It can make a guy tired. There are a lot of different factors.
