The salary cap specialist and Providence Bruins GM was also a finalist for the open job in Toronto, <a href=\"https:\/\/bostonhockeynow.com\/2026-05-05-bruins-draft-lottery-day-second-round-chayka-introduced-toronto\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">did not get it<\/a>, and was then linked to the open job in Western Canada. Now that the Providence season is over, the process might speed up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Maine Mariners also dropped Game 1 of Round 2.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere around the NHL, there were two playoff games last night. They were not close. One evened a series, and one team reclaimed a series lead. Two more games are on the schedule for tonight, and the Flyers are looking to extend their season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In other news, the Devils and Maple Leafs might battle for another front office executive, and the Hart Trophy finalists were announced yesterday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And Gavin McKenna\u2019s mother is facing a charge of furnishing liquor to minors.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Saturday, catch up on Bruins and league news in today\u2019s Daily Bean:<\/p>\n<p>Boston Bruins<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bostonhockeynow.com\/2026-05-08-why-bruins-dont-need-to-rush-to-name-captain\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CAPTAIN<\/a>: The Bruins have work to do this offseason. Should their captain be one of the top priorities? I say no, but not because they do not have one, but because of what they already have. Brooklyn Kalmikov scored with 4:46 to go in the third period, but Mike Posma tied the game 47 seconds later to force overtime. Well, from that same night, his mother has been charged with furnishing liquor to minors. Her court date is scheduled for June 3.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McKenna\u2019s charge was for knocking the lights out of someone who was harassing his mother and family. He followed the McKenna family out of the bar.
