Two Bruins<\/a> are one win away from a gold at the IIHF World Championships<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There are three still in the tournament; they were all on the schedule yesterday and are again today. Joonas Korpisalo<\/a> has been backing up goaltender Justus Annunen<\/a>, but he and Henri Jokiharju<\/a> can win gold if they beat the host Switzerland this afternoon. Fraser Minten<\/a> and Team Canada will play Norway for the bronze.<\/p>\n

In other Bruins news, more report cards, a P-Bruins AHL signing, and a former assistant coach is in the running for another AHL gig.<\/p>\n

Around the league, Maple Leafs<\/a> captain Auston Matthews<\/a> reportedly had a \u201cpositive\u201d meeting<\/a> with the new front office, but there are some things they need to do to let him know they are bought in. The Red Wings<\/a> are looking for center help, but the market is weak, and the top guy might not be the one they are looking for.<\/p>\n

The Sharks have the No. 2 pick, but they may shop it if the right deal comes across GM Mike Grier\u2019s desk. The Sabres have a goalie who may be on the move this summer, and an insider thinks a team in the Atlantic Division is a fit.<\/p>\n

The Lemieux family also released a statement last night.<\/p>\n

Boston Bruins<\/p>\n

REPORT CARD<\/a>: Yesterday\u2019s report card<\/a> looked at three more defensemen: Jonathan Aspirot<\/a>, Mason Lohrei<\/a>, and Andrew Peeke<\/a>. Marco Sturm called Aspirot a \u201cpleasant surprise\u201d after he signed a two-year extension in January, and the future is in the air for Peeke and Lohrei.<\/p>\n

IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Two of the three remaining Bruins played yesterday, playing against each other, and they are back on the schedule today as the tournament comes to a close.<\/p>\n

Finland beat Canada 4-2 yesterday and will compete for gold today.<\/p>\n

PROVIDENCE BRUINS: The P-Bruins<\/a> signed 21-year-old defenseman Dylan MacKinnon<\/a> to a one-year AHL contract yesterday. He played in 45 games with the Charlottetown Islanders and two with the Moncton Wildcats, both in the QMJHL, this season.<\/p>\n

MacKinnon, from Riverview, New Brunswick, played in three regular-season games with the Maine Mariners<\/a> in April.<\/p>\n

The Fourth Period<\/a>: According to David Pagnotta, Jay Leach is in the running for the Belleville Senators (AHL) head coaching job.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also a candidate for the Hartford Wolf Pack job<\/a>.<\/p>\n

NHL News & National Hockey Now<\/p>\n

Toronto Hockey Now<\/a>: Auston Matthews<\/a> will stay in Toronto<\/a> as long as they meet some of his needs this summer. Well, by July 15. He wants to win in Toronto, and with two years left on his contract, the clock is ticking. Dave Litman has more on the six boxes the Leafs\u2019 new front office has to check to convince him to stay.<\/p>\n

San Jose Hockey Now<\/a>: The Sharks select No. 2, will they entertain a trade for the pick? Pierre LeBrun reported that Mike Grier is \u201cabsolutely open\u201d to making a deal, but it all depends on what he gets. Sheng Peng spoke to three scouts and an executive to come up with some reasonable trades<\/a>.<\/p>\n

NHLtraderumors.me<\/a>: Sabres goalie Devon Levi<\/a> did not play in an NHL game this season, but he\u2019s involved in trade talks early into the offseason. Kevin Weekes told the NHL Network that there will be some suitors, and he wonders if the Senators will try to make a move to help Linus Ullmark<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Detroit Hockey Now<\/a>: The Red Wings are among the teams looking for center help this summer. Daily Faceoff<\/a> listed Boone Jenner<\/a> as the top UFA center, and Kevin Allen writes that he may not be a fit in Detroit.<\/p>\n

Philly Hockey Now<\/a>: The future of the Flyers\u2019 blue line is in good shape. They have two young defensemen, Jamie Drysdale<\/a>, 24, and Cam York<\/a>, 25, and both of them had pretty good seasons under Rick Tocchet.\u00a0Will James has high grades for the two.<\/p>\n

Brendan Lemieux (via Instagram)<\/a>: Brendan Lemieux, Claude\u2019s son, released a statement on behalf of the Lemieux family last night.<\/p>\n

In addition, the family will donate his brain to the UNITE Brain Bank at the Boston University CTE Center.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family emphasizes that this decision is a gift to science, to athletes, and to future generations of families seeking answers. No conclusions should be drawn at this time regarding any diagnosis.\u201d<\/p>\n

TSN<\/a>: Dennis Hull, who played 13 seasons for the Blackhawks<\/a> from 1964-77, passed away yesterday at 81. His nephew confirmed the death on social media, and the Blackhawks followed with a statement from their owner.<\/p>\n
