Eduards Tralmaks, Red Wings<\/p>\n

In an interview earlier this week, Detroit Red Wings farmhand Eduards Tralmaks<\/a> was talking about the possibility of playing again next season in North America. Many folks, including those of us here at Detroit Hockey Now, went with the assumption that it meant there was a chance he could be back with the Red Wings organization.<\/p>\n

Well, upon further review, it appears the chances of that happening may be about as good as Jim Carrey\u2019s chances of getting with Lauren Holly in Dumb and Dumber.<\/p>\n

In an interview published on the Czech website iSport<\/a>, Tralmaks discussed his time with the Red Wings organization, and there wasn\u2019t much fondness in his memories.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe older you get, the less interest there is in you,\u201d said Tralmaks, 29. \u201cManagement looks at the players the club drafted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t understand at all what they wanted from me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tralmaks felt the Red Wings didn\u2019t Give Him a Chance<\/p>\n

Tralmaks scored 26 goals for Detroit\u2019s top farm club, the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins<\/a>. He kept waiting for a call from the big club.<\/p>\n

That call finally came while the Red Wings were injury-riddled during a late-season Florida<\/a> road trip. Tralmaks was summoned as an emergency replacement for injured winger Michael Brandsegg-Nygard<\/a>. Under NHL rules, that meant Tralmaks could only play if Brandsegg-Nygard didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe couldn\u2019t decide whether to play or not,\u201d Tralmaks said. \u201cI promised him everything possible to let me play. But he\u2019s young, he wanted to show that he could play, so it didn\u2019t work out.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went out on the ice to warm up. I hope it wasn\u2019t the closest I\u2019ll ever get to my NHL debut. And Brandsegg-Nygard couldn\u2019t skate after half the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

For now, Tralmaks plans to relax. He\u2019ll go home, take a breath, and take a break. Help out with his family\u2019s blueberry business.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need to sleep and rest now,\u201d Tralmaks said. \u201cI want to be home, have some home-cooked food, and enjoy Latvia.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a very long season for me. A very demanding season. I need to take a proper break for two or three weeks, spend time with my family, with my friends, enjoy the beautiful Latvian nature, and maybe even the nice weather.\u201d<\/p>\n

When he feels recharged, Tralmaks<\/a> will begin to determine what is ahead in his hockey future. And wherever it takes him, he\u2019ll hold his head high when he thinks about what he accomplished as part of the Red Wings organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can be proud of myself for this season because I did everything to fulfill my dream,\u201d Tralmaks said.<\/p>\n

Even if the dream didn\u2019t come true.<\/p>\n
