Claude Lemieux\u2019s death certificate has been made public following his suicide,<\/a> and it reveals new details about his final resting place.<\/p>\n

Lemieux was found dead by his adult son in the warehouse of his family\u2019s Florida furniture store in the early hours of May 28, after loved ones grew concerned when he failed to return home the night before. The Palm Beach County Sheriff\u2019s Office previously told The Athletic that deputies responded around 3:00 a.m. to a suicide attempt<\/a> at \u00a0Andros Home showroom, the Lemieux\u2019s family-run business.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NHL Alumni Association is devastated to share that Claude Lemieux has passed away<\/a> at the age of 60,\u201d the NHL wrote, confirming his death. \u201cHe was loved by his wife and four children, and on behalf of the Lemieux family, we kindly ask that everyone respect their privacy during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a death certificate<\/a> obtained by TMZ, Lemieux\u2019s body was taken to a local funeral home in Stuart before being transported out of state to Henson Chapel Cemetery in Vilas, North Carolina for burial.<\/p>\n

Lemieux played in the NHL for six different teams between 1983 and 2009. Throughout his 21-season career, he earned four Stanley Cup championships with three different franchises, including two with the New Jersey Devils. Just days before his death, he served as a torchbearer<\/a> at the NHL\u2019s Eastern Conference Finals between the Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes in Montreal.<\/p>\n

He leaves behind his wife, Deborah Lemieux, and their four children<\/a>: former NHL player Brendan, Claudia, Michael, and Christopher, as well as two grandchildren. He was 60 years old.<\/p>\n
