The 2026 Stanley Cup Final has been nothing short of complete chaos in both directions between the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> and Vegas Golden Knights<\/a>, and the series is now tied at one win apiece thanks to a dramatic overtime victory by the Hurricanes<\/a> in Game 2 on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis scored<\/a> on the power play shortly into overtime, completing what was a wild comeback effort that nearly came up short. The Golden Knights initially led by a 2-0 score, only to have the Hurricanes storm back with three straight tallies to grab the lead before captain Mark Stone<\/a> tied things up again late in the third period.<\/p>\n

In Game 1, the Golden Knights trailed by a 2-0 score early on before eventually winning by a 5-4 final. The comebacks from both teams have set a new NHL record, marking the first time<\/a> that a Stanley Cup Final series has started with back-to-back multi-goal comeback wins by both teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarolina became the fourth team in NHL history, and first in over 80 years, to win after trailing by multiple goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation during the Stanley Cup Final,\u201d NHL Public Relations wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. \u201cThe others: Montreal<\/a> (Game 4 in 1944), Toronto<\/a> (Game 3 in 1936) and Chicago<\/a> (Game 3 in 1931).\u201d<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Golden Knights got a pair of goals from Brett Howden<\/a> along with the tying mark from Mark Stone, while Carolina was boosted by goals from Logan Stankoven<\/a>, Mark Jankowski<\/a>, and Jordan Staal<\/a> before the overtime heroics from Jarvis.<\/p>\n

Both teams will resume the series on Saturday evening for Game 3 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
