NBA teams have been allowed to partner with jersey patch sponsors since the 2017-18 season. The Mavericks began its jersey patch journey with 5miles, a buying and selling app, but transitioned to a new sponsor in 2020 under former CEO Cynt Marshall, who is a member of Chime\u2019s board of directors.<\/p>\n
According to a prospectus filed with the SEC, Chime paid the Mavericks $33 million over three years for the team’s jersey patch rights and other sponsorship and promotional opportunities. The company\u2019s filing states Chime paid the Mavericks $10.5 million, $11.5 million and $11.2 million during the 2022, 2023 and 2024 fiscal years.<\/p>\n
The Mavericks announced a multi-year extension with Chime in October of 2024, just four months before the Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Since then, Cooper Flagg has become the face of the franchise and has appeared in several promotional advertisements for Chime, including one with his childhood idol, Larry Bird.<\/p>\n
During the 2025-26 season, Flagg\u2019s jersey was the ninth-best-selling NBA jersey, the only Mavericks player to appear on the annual list of the top 15 best-selling jerseys.<\/p>\n
