So I don’t think we’re just dealing with the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers anymore.”

Dylan Larkin expanding his trade list benefits the Red Wings and gives them a better opportunity to recoup market value. Mandatory Credit: Winslow Townson-Imagn Images

LeBrun also noted that the Dallas Stars have reached out, and that it’s possible a third team could get involved in trade talks involving partners that don’t have the assets to meet Detroit’s asking price.

Let’s start with the request for an expanded trade list. To me, that indicates that Yzerman touched base with the three teams on the original list and didn’t receive any satisfactory offers, thus the need to involve more teams. Doing so will allow more offers to materialize and encourage the three original teams to up the ante for Detroit’s captain.

If Yzerman does receive a list of additional teams, you have to think that they’ll fit a similar profile: U.S.-based, win-now organizations with Team USA talent. This may include:

Carolina Hurricanes (Jaccob Slavin)

Utah Mammoth (Clayton Keller)

Tampa Bay Lightning (Jake Guentzel)

New Jersey Devils (Jack Hughes)

Dallas Stars (Jake Oettinger)

Anaheim Ducks (Jackson LaCombe)

While not exactly a win-now team, it’s difficult to ignore the Columbus Blue Jackets given the fact that Larkin’s best friend and Team USA compatriot Zach Werenski is part of the team’s core.

Trade Speculation for Red Wings’ Cossa

While his name has been brought up in trade rumors multiple times this offseason, it was interesting to see Sebastian Cossa mentioned as a potential trade chip by NHL analyst Kevin Weekes.

Weekes specifically noted Utah, who, according to a source, had interest in acquiring Detroit’s top goaltending prospect during the 2025 NHL Draft.

If the Red Wings do, in fact, move Cossa, that’s a sign that they intend to add talent that can help immediately – at least in my opinion. While Cossa is ready for NHL duties, he plays a position that’s well-stocked within the organization and could be dealt to address other needs, such as top-six scoring help.

Red Wings Prospect Earns AHL Recognition

After a stellar rookie year in the AHL, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard was named to the 2025-26 AHL Top Prospects Team. This comes after winning the bronze medal with Norway at the 2026 World Championship.

In his first full year in North America, Brandsegg-Nygard registered 20 goals and 44 points in 60 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins. He also recorded eight points in as many games during the AHL playoffs.

Brandsegg-Nygard was Detroit’s No. 4 prospect heading into the 2025-26 season and will likely be ranked even higher heading into next season. His AHL and World Championship production—combined with his physical style of play and lethal release—suggest that he could be a full-time NHLer in 2026-27.

More Red Wings News & Rumors

Free Newsletter

Get Detroit Red Wings coverage delivered to your inbox

In-depth analysis, breaking news, and insider takes – free.

Subscribe Free →

To no one’s surprise, the Detroit Red Wings have been prominently featured in NHL headlines as of late.…

[5101
599,93,5137,595,5,4588,4,3358,5138,4304
post-597196","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-detroit-red-wings","tag-detroit","tag-detroit-red-wings","tag-detroitredwings","tag-dylan-larkin","tag-hockey","tag-michael-brandsegg-nygard","tag-nhl","tag-red-wings","tag-redwings","tag-sebastian-cossa
["GET
