(WBTV) &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2026\/06\/15\/hurricanes-use-stifling-defense-blank-golden-knights-3-0-game-6-win-stanley-cup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2026\/06\/15\/hurricanes-use-stifling-defense-blank-golden-knights-3-0-game-6-win-stanley-cup\/\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> fans flooded the streets of Downtown Raleigh over the weekend to celebrate the team\u2019s second Stanley Cup Championship in 20 years. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Head coach Rod Brind\u2019Amour helped set the tone on Saturday, June 20, hyping up a sea of \u201cCaniacs\u201d as the team rolled through Raleigh with hockey\u2019s most coveted trophy. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fans along the parade route cheered, sounded horns and packed the streets for a close-up look at the Cup and the players who delivered it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI think my friends thought I was crazy when we won because I was crying and laughing at the same time because I couldn\u2019t believe my eyes,\u201d Simon Harris, a lifelong fan said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">&#8212;&gt; Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2026\/06\/15\/hurricanes-use-stifling-defense-blank-golden-knights-3-0-game-6-win-stanley-cup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2026\/06\/15\/hurricanes-use-stifling-defense-blank-golden-knights-3-0-game-6-win-stanley-cup\/\">Hurricanes use stifling defense to blank Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 and win the Stanley Cup<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The celebration stretched through the heart of Raleigh on Saturday, with fans soaking in the spectacle and showing love for a franchise that hadn\u2019t won it all in two decades. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fan Crystal Anthony said the season felt tense right to the finish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt was a nail biter, the whole season was honestly,\u201d Anthony said. \u201cWhen we got to that last game, it\u2019s ours &#8212; it\u2019s ours &#8212; we\u2019re bringing it home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For some families, the parade doubled as a once-in-a-lifetime memory. John Barnes lifted his daughter up for a better view of the Stanley Cup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s going to be amazing, glistening in the sun, beautiful North Carolina day, crowd going crazy, church bells leading the chants,\u201d Barnes said. \u201cThis is something she\u2019ll remember for the rest of her life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fans followed the buses down the parade route, filling streets and sidewalks to the very end. Many said the championship capped an unforgettable season and reinforced what longtime supporters have insisted for years: the Carolinas are a hockey home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt didn\u2019t feel real until right before [the end of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2026\/06\/15\/hurricanes-use-stifling-defense-blank-golden-knights-3-0-game-6-win-stanley-cup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2026\/06\/15\/hurricanes-use-stifling-defense-blank-golden-knights-3-0-game-6-win-stanley-cup\/\">Game 6<\/a>], and it\u2019s just so incredible,\u201d Ashesh Chatterjee said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">David Riley made the trip from Charlotte with his mother to watch the parade and celebrate the team.
