Through the program, Tara Connolly, an assistant coach for Dartmouth\u2019s women\u2019s hockey team and a member of the NHL Coaches\u2019 Association Female Coaches program, and Greg May, head coach of the University of Minnesota\u2019s women\u2019s hockey team and member of the NHL Coaches\u2019 Association BIPOC Coaches program, will work alongside the Mammoth coaching staff as a way to enhance their coaching skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Mammoth internship coaching program, Connolly and May will shadow the Mammoth coaching staff throughout development camp, take part in daily coach and player meetings, and assist the staff with on-ice drills. They will also serve as assistant coaches for the team\u2019s Black and White scrimmage on Thursday, July 2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very proud to be a part of the coaching journey for Greg and Tara and for them to expand their already high-level of knowledge for the game by working alongside our NHL coaches,\u201d said Chris Armstrong, president of hockey operations for the Utah Mammoth. \u201cThis should prove to be a great opportunity for both of them to learn additional systems and tactics to apply to their own teams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About Tara Connolly<\/p>\n<p>Connolly is set to enter her third season as an assistant coach with Dartmouth\u2019s women\u2019s hockey team, where she focuses on goaltenders, defense, and the team\u2019s penalty kill while also overseeing the program\u2019s recruiting efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She helped the team improve its penalty kill from 66.9% in 2023-24 to 74.4% during the 2024-25 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prior to her time at Dartmouth, she coached at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Wesleyan University.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Connolly played as a goaltender at Bowdoin College (Division III), earning a 21-11-3 record and .914 save percentage in 38 career games from 2009-13.<\/p>\n<p>About Greg May<\/p>\n<p>May was named head coach of the University of Minnesota\u2019s women\u2019s hockey team on March 22, 2026, becoming the third head coach in program history.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He had served as an associate head coach for the program since 2023, helping lead the Golden Gophers to the 2025 NCAA Frozen Four and also to tournament bids in 2024 and 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to his time at Minnesota, he coached Augsburg\u2019s men\u2019s hockey team (Division III) from 2021-23, leading them to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) regular season title in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>May was also named the MIAC Coach of the Year in 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Burnsville, Minn. native previously served as the director of operations for the University of Minnesota\u2019s men\u2019s hockey program from 2019-21, helping the Gophers claim the 2021 Big Ten Tournament championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>May played college hockey as a forward at Augsburg and was named an MIAC All-Conference honoree as a senior in 2006-07.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Utah Mammoth announced today that they are continuing their coaching internship program at this year\u2019s 2026 Development&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":606991,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5122],"tags":[5,4,51,5290,232,5291,5289],"class_list":["post-606990","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-utah-hockey-club","tag-hockey","tag-nhl","tag-utah","tag-utah-hc","tag-utah-hockey-club","tag-utahhc","tag-utahhockeyclub"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/channels.im\/@nhl\/116811938108184308","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/606990","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=606990"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/606990\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/606991"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=606990"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=606990"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=606990"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
