On Friday, the Bruins made a splash on the trade front, acquiring JJ Peterka<\/a> from Utah for a pair of first-round picks.\u00a0 They also added the person who traded him to Utah in the first place.\u00a0 Sportsnet\u2019s Elliotte Friedman reports (Twitter link<\/a>) that the Bruins are adding Kevyn Adams<\/a> to their front office.<\/p>\n

Adams spent more than four seasons as the GM of the Sabres before being let go in mid-December with Jarmo Kekalainen<\/a> taking over.\u00a0 Adams was active on the trade front during his time with Buffalo; among the players added to the roster in recent years were Bowen Byram<\/a> and Ryan McLeod<\/a>.\u00a0 Adams also dealt away Jack Eichel<\/a> to Vegas for a return that featured Alex Tuch<\/a> and moved Sam Reinhart<\/a> to Florida for futures, including goaltender Devon Levi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, that activity didn\u2019t yield much on-ice success during his tenure.\u00a0 At the time of his departure, Buffalo was tied for last place in the Eastern Conference before turning things around completely after that to win the Atlantic Division.<\/p>\n

Adams was believed to have had discussions with both Toronto and Vancouver in their GM searches in recent weeks but both teams went with other candidates.\u00a0 Now, faced with the option of either waiting to see if an in-season GM job becomes available or going elsewhere in a lesser role, he has clearly elected the latter.<\/p>\n
