{"id":618300,"date":"2026-07-09T04:36:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T04:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/618300\/"},"modified":"2026-07-09T04:36:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T04:36:17","slug":"pwhl-san-jose-signs-brooke-bryant-ex-jr-san-jose-shark-to-one-year-deal-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/618300\/","title":{"rendered":"PWHL San Jose signs Brooke Bryant, ex-Jr. San Jose Shark, to one-year deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN JOSE \u2013 PWHL San Jose has added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/553933\/brooke-bryant\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">forward Brooke Bryant<\/a> to its roster, signing the Northern California native and former Jr. Shark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepwhl.com\/en\/transactions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to a one-year deal<\/a> announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>San Jose now has<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepwhl.com\/en\/teams\/san-jose\/roster-tracker\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> 13\u00a0players under contract<\/a> for the upcoming season, which begins late this year.<\/p>\n<p>Bryant, a Linden native, became the first Californian to play in the PWHL in 2022 when she debuted with Minnesota. She won back-to-back Walter Cup titles with the team before she played last season with the Seattle Torrent.<\/p>\n<p>Bryant, who has six points in 71 career PWHL games, played five seasons at Minnesota State University\u00a0and won gold with Team USA at the 2024 Inline Hockey World Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Bryant, 25, played with the San Jose Jr. Sharks 12-under team that won the Pacific District Championship\u00a0in 2012, and competed at that year\u2019s USA Hockey Tier II National Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Bryant, then 11, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.recordnet.com\/story\/sports\/2012\/03\/28\/stockton-trio-possesses-icy-skills\/49689862007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">told the Stockton Record<\/a> that her goal was to play in the Olympics.\u00a0The Jr. Sharks 12-under coach at the time, Rick Burke, didn\u2019t doubt her, saying he was impressed when he first saw Bryant play at an all-girls hockey camp the previous summer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember she had an injury problem at the time, but she\u2019s a tough kid and a hockey player. She skated through it,\u201d Burke told the Record. \u201cTalk about driven.
